What is Monkeypox?

Monkeypox is a rare infection that can spread through skin-to-skin contact, etc. For more info, visit American Medical Assoc. website.


Symptoms include fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, body aches, and a rash. For more info, see American Medical Assoc website.


Currently there are no specific treatments. In consultation with CDC, certain patients may be candidates for antiviral or antibody treatment. For info, see AMA website.


Avoid contact with infected people, animals or materials. There is a vaccine that provides some protection; however, it is not currently available for general use.
