Student to Student - Health Promotion and Physical Health
December 1, 2022 - Luke Wilson
Hello Lobos! My name is Luke Wilson. I am a senior in the Community Health Education program at UNM. I hope to graduate in May 2023! I started my college journey at Lamar Community College in 2018. At LCC, I played baseball and studied science with a focus in exercise science. I graduated in 2020 with an Associate of Science and a Health and Wellness Certificate. After moving back to Albuquerque in 2020, I took the fall semester off of school and worked an internship at Metro Court in Downtown Albuquerque. I returned to school in Spring of 2021 and began working toward a degree in Community Health Education.
I am passionate about health promotion and physical health. I enjoy working with people to improve their physical activity habits and get them feeling better! This semester, I have had the opportunity to intern at Student Health and Counseling at UNM. This internship has given me the chance to further investigate physical activity habits of college students and work to create solutions for barriers that students face in maintaining their physical health. Additionally, I have created informational social media posts about the relationship between physical and mental health.
In the future, I hope to work in the field of health promotion, with a focus on physical health. As a reserved person, I enjoy how the field of health promotion challenges me to get out of my comfort zone as well as gives me the opportunity to help others. I hope to continue to learn and grow as I return as a SHAC intern in the Spring of 2023.
