Traye Holland is standing in front of a SHAC mural.Hello there! My name is Traye Holland, and I am the new Mental Health Training and Development Specialist at SHAC. A little bit about me: Throughout my life I have bounced back and forth between New Mexico and my home state of Oklahoma. I was born in OK, graduated high school in NM, started my first job in mental health in OK, and have now moved back to NM to work at UNM. I love New Mexico. The air is clear and the sunsets are gorgeous. If you ever find yourself outside of Albuquerque’s light pollution be sure to look up at the night sky and you will see more stars than you ever knew existed. This is a beautiful state filled with many great people, and I am happy to be back in the Land of Enchantment.

I have been working in mental health for 4 years now. I had not intended or foreseen that I would end up in this field, but do not regret going into mental health one bit. I love what I do. I have raised awareness, provided trainings and workshops, stood at vendor tables, organized events, attended meeting after meeting, managed budgets, and so much more all to increase people’s knowledge and understanding of mental health. My areas of interest are suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention, and stress management. My goal is to empower people to take better care of their mental health and to not be afraid to reach out if they need help. I look forward to utilizing my knowledge and experience here at UNM!
